Date set for police crash trial

The accident happened on the St Clement coast road
A trial date has been set for a police officer charged with driving without due care and attention.

Sgt Mark John Hafey, 31, from St Clement, pleaded not guilty to the charges in connection with a fatal crash on 1 August 2005.

Deborah Gardner, 37, died when her vehicle collided with a police car answering a 999 call on St Clements coast road, near La Mare.

The trial will take place on 29 November at Jersey's Magistrates Court.

The officer was charged following an investigation into the incident by Devon and Cornwall Police.
