Income support system is approved
A new, simplified income support system has been given the go-ahead by the States in Jersey.

The overhaul will see benefits and allowances replaced by a single payment system from next autumn.

Under the current system people can receive up to 12 different benefits paid at different times.

Details of how much will be paid out, depending on individual circumstances, will not be released until early next year, said a States spokesperson.

The proposal was debated at a meeting on Tuesday.
