Landmarks under heritage scrutiny
Channel Island landmarks are to be inspected by an international committee to see if they are valid for World Heritage protected status.

The International Scientific Committee on Fortifications and Military Heritage is spending a week visiting 30 sites in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney.

Members recommend landmarks to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list of sites of outstanding universal value.

Inspections start Thursday at Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth Castle in Jersey.
