The Jersey Clipper is trying to keep ahead of the Glasgow crew as the fleet sails the last few hundred miles of the 10-month Clipper Round the World race.

The 10 yachts in the race left Noirmont Point just after 1800 BST on Tuesday.

The vessels are now en-route from Jersey to Holyhead in Wales before they start the final leg to Liverpool.

The yachts are competing in the round the world race across 35,000 miles (56,300km) of sea, visiting a total of 12 ports before returning to Liverpool.

The other teams taking part in the 2005-06 race are from Liverpool, New York, Western Australia, Cardiff, Victoria, Singapore, Durban and Qingdao.

Jersey had moved up one place from bottom to ninth by the time the vessels reached St Helier over the weekend.

The crew of the Jersey Clipper includes people from Guernsey and Jersey.
