Police ready for World Cup match
Police will be stepping up their presence on Jersey's streets for the World Cup quarter-final football match between England and Portugal.

Officers want to prevent a repeat of trouble between England and Portugal fans in Jersey two years ago.

Minden Place car park will be shut and extra police will be on duty to avoid any violence there might be after the match.

Jersey's population is about 10% Portuguese, of Madeiran origin.

Jersey police said they are happy to let fans get a bit rowdy, but they will come down hard on anyone who becomes violent or aggressive.

Fans are being warned that anyone displaying taunting behaviour will be arrested.
