Concern over lack of seat belts
Bus seat belt
The Transport Department has the power to change the law
Concern has been raised about the safety of some children in Jersey who are being transported to school on buses and coaches.

Senator Mike Vibert, the Education Minister, has admitted that some of the vehicles used to ferry children do not have seatbelts fitted.

He has promised to investigate the issue, but said it was down to the Transport Department to change the law.

It is not compulsory for UK buses and coaches to be fitted with seat belts.
