Jersey's probation service has recruited 18 more volunteers over the past six months to help prevent offenders re-offending.
They will be part of a mentoring scheme which was set up three years ago, and is now facing an increase in demand.
The mentors can have similar interests and are able to provide a stable life for ex-offenders as they adjust to life back in society.
All new recruits will now be trained by officers from the UK.
