Increase in new hostel bookings
The hostel can also be used to host business seminars
More than 11,000 visitors are expected to stay at Jersey's new youth hostel this year.

The number of overnight bookings has nearly doubled since last year.

The Youth Hostel opened in March 2004 and about 6,500 people stayed over the first year.

Visitors have come from the UK, France, Australia, Canada and Namibia.

The hostel's manager says it has been an overwhelming success.

Chris Alder said most people come as groups, particularly schools from the UK and France.

He added that the hostel would now work on developing educational packages such as booking tourist attractions for the group leaders to help organise the holiday.
