Lottery prize keeps on climbing
The top prize for the Channel Islands' Christmas lottery draw is currently standing at £275,000, and is likely to go even higher.

Local charities which benefit include the Cheshire Home and Guernsey Sea Cadets, Jersey Scouts and Jersey Art and Healthcare.

Last year more than £80,000 was given to Bailiwick charities, whilst Jersey received more than £250,000.

The lottery began in 1975 and this year will be drawn on 20 December.

Jenny Turner, the islands' gambling and lottery officer, said: "It's at £275,000 at the moment, but that figure is going up almost every other day."
