Jersey's Remembrance Day gun had to be fired from a pavement after a mix-up between organisers and the parish of St Helier on Friday.
The field gun should have been fired from the centre of People's Park, but bollards to stop people driving on the grass had not been dropped.
The parish said there was a breakdown in communications between officials and the organisers of the gun firing.
The gun was eventually fired on time from a pavement alongside the park.
Peter Noble, St Helier's director of municipal services, apologised for the confusion and told the BBC that there will not be a similar problem again.
