Fewer island couples tie the knot
The number of people getting married in Jersey continues to fall, according to a States report.

Six hundred and sixteen couples tied the knot in the island in 2004, 16 fewer than the year before.

Only 164 weddings took place in churches, while others chose to use the Register Office or newly-approved venues like hotels and heritage sites.

The report also reveals that 190 couples travelled to the island to be married, a slight increase on 2003.
