Harbours' portering law removed
A law which banned people from working as unofficial porters at Jersey harbours has been repealed.

The law stated that people collecting visitors from the harbours required a licence from the harbour master.

The fine for not having a licence was £1 and a penalty of 1s or 2s 6d could be charged for carrying the effects of more than one passenger at a time.

But the Harbours and Airport Committee says it is time to repeal the 1959 law which they say is no longer used.
