Lack of cash grounds Miss Battle
Miss Battle of Flowers 2005: Victoria Keen
Miss Battle of Flowers 2005: Victoria Keen from St John
Jersey's Miss Battle of Flowers will not be making any appearances out of the island this year.

Miss Battle is normally sent on a range of visits throughout the year to help promote the island.

The Battle of Flowers Association said the decision was taken because of a lack of available funds.

Chairman Bob Pallot said: "It's always nice for Miss Battle to go away, but it does cost quite a bit and at the moment we're strapped for cash."

Miss Battle 2005 is 18-year-old Victoria Keen from St John.

Thousands of islanders and holidaymakers are expected at this year's Battle of Flowers which will take place in St Helier on 11 and 12 August.
