Jersey Zoo criticised over prices
Jersey Zoo
Jersey Zoo spent £500,000 more than its income last year.
There are fears admission prices at Jersey Zoo are too high and they could be forcing tourists away.

Deputy Gerard Baudains said he hears many complaints that the zoo is too expensive and some holiday makers have not gone after finding out the cost.

The zoo charges a family of two adults and two children £35 admission. A child aged 4-16 costs £7.40.

On Monday no-one from the zoo, which had a £0.5m overspend last year, was available to comment.

The zoo was originally founded by wildlife writer Gerald Durrell.

The Jersey Heritage Trust says that more needs to be done to find new ways of improving tourist attractions and setting up entertainment for visitors.

The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust recently revealed it hopes to build eight self-catering apartments on a field next to land currently used as an overflow car park to try to raise money.
