Warning over income tax deadline
People in Jersey are being warned they will be fined if they do not pay their income tax on time.

The deadline is 10 December and those who miss the deadline will be handed a 10% surcharge.

The number of people being issued with a surcharge notice has been going up in recent years. Last year there was an increase of 600 to 6,500 notices.

The Comptroller of Income Tax, Malcolm Campbell, says he will be tough on people who do not pay.

People who are having problems finding the money to pay their bill can get further advice from the Income Tax department.
