The Commonwealth Games baton is visiting the Isle of Man as part of its world tour ahead of Delhi 2010.

The baton, the equivalent of the Olympic torch, will be taken around the island's schools on Monday.

On Tuesday, the public will get a chance to see it when some of the island's top young athletes run a relay along Douglas Promenade.

Isle of Man Commonwealth Games chief Juliet Holt said: "We encourage everyone to come down and see them."

The Queen's Baton Relay began in London on 29 October and toured England, Wales and Northern Ireland before arriving on the island.

It will then be taken to the Channel Islands before touring all of the Commonwealth countries.

It will arrive in India on 25 June ahead of the games.
