Warning over parcel delivery scam

Isle of Man postbox
Some postal scams involved customers calling a premium rate number

The Isle of Man Post Office has issued a warning to customers to be aware of any potential postal scams during the run up to Christmas.

Any notice cards about undelivered parcels left at homes which customers may consider suspicious should be reported to the Post Office.

There was one instance where an undelivered parcel notice was left and customers called a premium rate number.

This con in 2005 has since been stopped and the company concerned was fined.

It had originated in Belize and callers heard the start of a recorded message, with the call being billed at £15.
