Town's sewage plans put on hold

Plans to build a sewage treatment plant near Peel power station on the Isle of Man have been put on hold.

The town's commissioners' decision not to support proposals was "disappointing", a government spokesman said.

The land on the outskirts of Peel has been zoned for development since 1982.

"It was unlikely that planning permission for a site outside of the boundary and on unzoned land would be granted," David Quirk MHK said.

The "door would always be open" for the town's commissioners to reconsider their decision, the Manx government said.
