Pedestrian dies in road collision

A 38-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a car in the Isle of Man.

The collision happened early on Wednesday on the main Douglas to Castletown road, known locally as the Mount Murray Dip.

The road has been closed between the Cooil Road Roundabout and the Mount Murray back road.

Specialist crash investigators are at the scene. Isle of Man police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.

An Isle of Man police spokesman said: "Officers are currently speaking to the driver of a vehicle that collided with the lady in the roadway.

"What is unclear at this time are the circumstances that led to the lady being in the roadway at that time."
