Prisoners on the Isle of Man have raised £1,000 so the parents of a disabled toddler can travel to the US to receive specialist training. The inmates at Jurby Prison donated the cash to Aziz Sharpe, two, from Douglas, who was born with microcephaly, which means her head is smaller than normal. The condition cause abnormal growth of the brain and poor brain function. The money will be used by the child's parents, Madina and Keith, to complete a course in brain development. Mike Pacey, the prison's senior officer for physical education, said: "It's rewarding for them and us to have the support of the whole prison community to raise this impressive amount of money for such a worthy cause." Aziz and his mother went to Castletown to see the walkers set off on the long-distance walk. Mrs Sharpe added: "It is quite an intense training programme for us, from 8am until 8pm every day, but Aziz really benefits from the techniques we learn. "When we have completed the training, Keith and I will be qualified in child brain development."
