Banners banned on island's roads

A reminder that placing advertising banners on road railings around the Isle of Man is prohibited has been issued by the Department of Transport.

David Quirk MHK, with responsibility for Highways, said although charities had placed banners at Quarterbridge in the past, they were no longer allowed.

Banners cannot be attached to any structures or street furniture.

"They can block visibility for drivers and pedestrians, they cause distraction to motorists", Mr Quirk said.

Any banners placed on railings and other highway locations will be removed by Department of Transport staff.

Any banners erected on private fences and walls must have the permission of the property owner.
