Charity push for injured TT men

A sponsored sidecar push around the Isle of Man's TT race course in aid of injured sidecar duo Nick Crowe and Mark Cox has raised about £3,000.

The pair were seriously injured in a freak accident during last month's TT and face months of surgery and rehabilitation.

The money goes towards travel costs and accommodation for those visiting the men who are being treated in Liverpool.

Event organiser Terry Holmes said the men were on a long road to recovery.

"They are improving but it's going to be a long journey for them," Mr Holmes said.

"They're both in Liverpool at the moment, so we have people going across to see them and this money will help with travel costs and somewhere to stay.

"It's one of the last things you'd expect to hit on a TT course, wildlife, but these things happen."

The sidecar race, the second of the 2009 Isle of Man TT, was abandoned following the accident.

Both men were thrown from the sidecar following a collision with what was believed to be a hare, a Honda Racing spokesperson said after the incident.
