Taxi licensing plans are debated

Changes to the legislation governing the taxi industry are being sought by the Isle of Man's Department of Transport at Tynwald later this month.

The recommendations include creating a single-tier taxi service and removing the distinction between ply-for-hire and general private hire taxis.

Measures such as an all-island ply-for-hire service have been suggested.

Plans to stop taxi plates being rented or traded will also be discussed.
