Changes to the legislation governing the taxi industry are being sought by the Isle of Man's Department of Transport at Tynwald later this month. The recommendations include creating a single-tier taxi service and removing the distinction between ply-for-hire and general private hire taxis. Measures such as an all-island ply-for-hire service have been suggested. Plans to stop taxi plates being rented or traded will also be discussed.
