Fastest female TT racer honoured

Maria Costello reached an average speed of 114.7mph

The fastest woman on the Isle of Man TT circuit has been appointed an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Motorcyclist Maria Costello, 31, of Northampton, holds the women's record for the fastest lap after she scorched round at 114.7mph in 2003.

Head of the island's Chamber of Commerce, Barbara Rose O'Hanlon, from Peel, has been appointed an MBE for her services to business.

She works with the Douglas Development Partnership.

Supt Carolyn Kinrade of Isle of Man Constabulary has been awarded the Queen's Police Medal for her services to the police force.

She was promoted in February 2008 and has co-ordinated the policing for the TT races.
