Celebrations for bird hunt ritual

Groups of people in the Isle of Man have been seeking out stuffed birds as part of the island's traditional Boxing Day activities.

Revellers took part in the annual "Hunt the Wren" event which is believed to have Celtic origins where wrens were trapped due to being thought unlucky.

Toy versions of the bird are now used and once the wren is "found" islanders celebrate by dancing around a stick.

Special songs about the ritual are then performed .
