Funeral for Karalius takes place

Vince Karalius made 384 appearances in his club career

The funeral for former Great Britain rugby league player Vince Karalius has taken place in the Isle of Man.

A requiem mass was held at St Columba's Church for the former St Helens, Widnes and Great Britain loose forward, who died on 13 December at the age of 76.

He started his professional career with Saints in 1951 and was known as one of the sport's toughest forwards, earning the nickname "Wild Bull of the Pampas".

He retired to the island where he helped to train children.

Mr Karalius is survived by his wife Barbara.

He made 384 appearances in his club career, which lasted from 1952 to 1966.

He won 12 caps for Great Britain and was part of the side which won the World Cup in 1960.
