Chief minister has back surgery

The Isle of Man's chief minister is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery on his back.

A spokesman for Tony Brown MHK said the surgery was routine and had been scheduled for some time.

Treasury Minister Allan Bell is responsible for his duties until his expected return home.

Mr Brown has been granted leave from the House of Keys and Tynwald until after the Christmas period, his spokesman added.
