Formal opening for £7.5m school

A new £7.5m junior school is to be formally opened by the Isle of Man's chief minister.

Tony Brown will unveil Scoill Ree Gorree school on Lezayre Road, Ramsey.

The 380-pupil school has 14 classrooms, group rooms, special needs facilities, a library, a double-court sports hall and changing facilities.

It replaced the old Albert Road Junior School and is situated next to the new Auldyn School and across the road from Ramsey Grammar School.

Outside there is an outdoor teaching area, a football pitch and a floodlit training area, which is also for the use of the Ramsey Youth Football Club.

Funding from the Isle of Man Arts Council has paid for lighting, seating and flooring to enable it to be used as a community performance space.
