Appeal after charity sign stolen

Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of a charity sign from the Isle of Man.

Douglas Police are investigating the theft of the vinyl banner from Victoria Road, Douglas.

The white banner is marked with "Joey Dunlop Foundation special needs accommodation facility", which is planned for the land.

The banner is worth about £200 and will have to be replaced from charity funds, police said.

Facilities for disabled

An Isle of Man police spokesman said they hoped passing drivers may have seen the theft, which happened at the weekend.

The land is set to become the site for a holiday complex of five units that will provide facilities for the disabled.

Joey Dunlop was a world champion motorcyclist, best known for road racing and his Manx TT successes.

He died in a race in Estonia in 2000.
