Woman, 49, dies after fire rescue

A 49-year-old woman has died after a fire at a property in a village on the Isle of Man, police said.

Emergency services were called to an incident on the Patrick Road at about 1755 BST on Thursday.

Paramedics treated the victim for apparent smoke inhalation, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acting Inspector Stephen Maddocks, from Manx police, said the coroner had been informed and that her relatives would also be contacted.

Nobody else was injured in the property and a small fire was extinguished. Minor damage was caused to a room.
