Risk assessment of island planned

Manx Fire and Rescue Service is set to visit homes and business premises over the coming months in a bid to help cut the threat of emergency incidents.

The fact-finding mission will result in officers talking to owners and occupiers to produce a risk assessment profile of the island.

This research will be combined with historical information to help deliver emergency-prevention initiatives.

The fire service is asking islanders to support and cooperate with the scheme.

Plea for support

Minister for Home Affairs, Adrian Earnshaw MHK, said the initiative would help, "deliver the most appropriate prevention, protection and response measures required to meet modern-day challenges".

Chief fire officer Brian Draper said: "In acknowledging that providing a modern fire and rescue service is much more than simply responding to emergency calls, we will require the support, partnership and co-operation of many individuals and organisations.

"In turn, we will seek out every opportunity to contribute towards the improved social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the Isle of Man."

Anyone interested in taking part in the initiative is asked to contact the fire service.
