Chemical alert liquid identified

Incident at Port St Mary
The substance was found to be anti-freeze

A leaking barrel which caused a chemical alert on the Isle of Man contained anti-freeze, tests showed.

A member of the public found the blue plastic container which was leaking green liquid on the rocks at Port St Mary on Tuesday.

The area was sealed off as a precaution while tests were carried out with new specialist equipment.

Previously the substance would have had to go to a laboratory for analysis, a fire service spokesman said.
