An Isle of Man-based airline is expanding its service to Gloucestershire airport a year after it first took off.

The link was the first daily scheduled service between the island and Gloucestershire.

Manx2 is expanding its service with an extra flight on Friday afternoon from the island. It currently flies twice a day and three times on a Thursday.

The service has carried 16,000 passengers in its first year.

'Strong reaction'

James Filleul, communications director for Manx2, said: "To say we are delighted with the way this route has performed is a considerable understatement.

"The reaction from customers has been very strong indeed, and we have exceeded the targets we set for the first year.

"The extra flight on a Friday is intended to appeal to both business and leisure customers.

"Gloucestershire Airport has become the Isle of Man's gateway to a large section of the UK, and we will be building the route even further in the months ahead."
