Charity scam warning to islanders

A charity is warning Manx people to be wary of a telephone scam after reports of islanders being cold-called and asked to give money.

The caller, requesting money for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Organisation, asks for personal bank details to set up a monthly direct debit donations.

The Red Cross says that while they may make calls of this nature, at no time would they request personal details.

They recommend that people should instead donate to their local branch.
