Police identify wall crash victim

An 18-year-old man who was killed when the car he was in crashed in the Isle of Man has been named by police.

Michael Kelly, from Douglas, was in a Vauxhall Zafira that hit a wall and overturned on the Snaefell Mountain Road at Hilberry on Saturday night.

The 17-year-old driver of the car and two other passengers suffered minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash.

The road was closed between the Little Mill Road and Cronk-ny-Mona for a number of hours on Sunday and Monday while forensic searches were conducted.

Sgt Terry Stephen, of the Road Policing Unit, said: "I'm afraid this is another tragic case of a very young person losing his life prematurely.

"We are investigating the cause of the collision but our enquiries will take some time."
