A woman has been rescued off the Manx coast after she was cut off from the mainland because of the incoming tide.

She was rescued from the Tower of Refuge, in Douglas Bay, on Monday night in a joint operation by Douglas Coastguard and Douglas Lifeboat.

A Coastguard officer swam from Victoria Pier to the tower at 1940 BST to ensure the woman was not injured and wait with her for the lifeboat.

The woman, who had walked out to the site, was unhurt.
