Views are invited on island policing

A campaign has been launched in the Isle of Man to raise awareness of the police consultative forum.

The independent organisation was established in 1998 to gather views about the policing on the island and crime prevention issues.

In a bid to generate more feedback, thousands of leaflets and posters have been produced.

The guides invite residents to make their opinions known on policing with a new telephone line and e-mail address.

Forum chairman Bob Jeavons said public views could make a real difference to island life.

"We are here to strengthen and develop the relationship between the police and local community," he said.

"Views supplied by the public could contribute towards the shaping of policing plans and priorities both locally and island wide."
