The parents of a 28-year-old man found stabbed to death on the Isle of Man have paid tribute their "happy-go-lucky" son.

William Rogers, 28, from Port Erin, was stabbed at a flat in Clifton Terrace, Douglas, on 26 March. He died in hospital later.

His parents say they are devastated by the loss of their "kind-hearted" son.

A 26-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with his murder and has been remanded in custody.

The woman, from Douglas, is due to appear again on Tuesday.

'Happy-go-lucky'

Mr Rogers' parents, Billy and Pam, said: "We are all devastated and shocked by the sudden and tragic loss of our son Billy.

"He was a kind-hearted and generous person and was always there for his family and friends.

"Billy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, he was full of life and a happy person, always the joker of the family."

They added: "Everyone who knew Billy knew what a happy-go-lucky person he was, he took every day as it came and had a laugh."

The family also thanked paramedics, hospital staff and police for their efforts as well as the support from their friends and family.

Det Insp Kevin Wilson has appealed for anyone who heard an altercation in the area after 0200 GMT on 26 March to contact the inquiry team.

He said he was also keen to speak to anyone who had seen Mr Rogers in the days leading up to his death.
