Museum acquires mining artefacts
The Manx National Heritage has taken possession of two artefacts related to the island's mining industry in Laxey.

A portrait of George Dumbell, founder of Dumbell's Bank and later chairman of directors of the Great Laxey Mining Company, was donated by his family.

The painting was in the possession of the widow of Mr Dumbell's great great grandson, who lives in Sussex.

A decorative shovel, presented to the Captain of the Great Laxey Mine from 1872 to 1873, was acquired at auction.
