A humpback whale has been spotted off the coast of the Isle of Man.

Several sightings were reported of the whale in the sea, about 164ft (50m) off the shore at Peel Castle.

Humpback whale adults can range between 39ft and 52ft (12 to 16m) in length, and often leap out of the water. They live to the age of about 77.

Co-ordinator of the Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch, John Galpin, says the humpback is usually seen off the west coast of Ireland at this time of year.
