Climate conference spots insects

The island has a good number of regular butterfly and moth recorders

Butterflies and moths will be the focus of a two day conference on climate change taking place on the Isle of Man in February.

The Manx branch of the Butterfly Conservation charity will look at why certain species are travelling further north across the British Isles.

The group is also taking part in a major moth mapping scheme.

The conference, which begins on 2 February at the Manx Museum in Douglas, is free and open to everyone.

In 2006, breeding Speckled Wood butterflies were confirmed in Port Soderick Glen, and the Comma has also recently been discovered on the island.
