The competition also has events for modern cars
More than 100 vintage and modern cars are set to take part in the Isle of Man Manx Classic 2006 race.

The event, organised by the Manx Motor Racing Club (MMRC), will see Bray Hill and surrounding roads closed on Thursday evening.

Cars taking part will span more than 90 years of motoring, from a 1916 Model T Ford to a 2006 Porsche 911.

Residents around the area have been notified of the road closures by flyers distributed to their homes.

Tourism Minister David Cretney said: "My department supports many events and I am delighted that the MMRC have reformed which should see the introduction of new classic motor sport events to the island."

The Manx Motor Racing Club previously ran the successful Manx Classic Challenge until 2001 when foot-and-mouth restrictions caused its cancellation.
