Hollywood stars Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor are due to start shooting a film about Cumbrian children's author Beatrix Potter on the Isle of Man.

The film, Miss Potter, tells the life story of the author of children's classics such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The Tale of Mrs Tiggywinkle.

The independent film will feature live action and high-end animation.

Zellweger, star of Bridget Jones' Diary, Cold Mountain and Cinderella Man, will play the lead in the film.

Potter wrote many of her books in the Lake District
Isle Of Man Film (IOMF) say 50% of the film will be shot on the island.

Beatrix Potter was born in Kensington, London, in 1866. She grew up in a wealthy Victorian family and had a conventional childhood for a girl of her class and era.

She moved to the Lake District in 1913 and lived at Hill Top Farm in the village of Sawrey, where she wrote most of her books.

The Libertine, Keeping Mum and Lassie are among other films shot on the island.
