Funeral of care home girl is held
Map of Isle of Man
The funeral of a teenager who died in an Isle of Man care home has taken place in Northern Ireland.

Nadine Smith, 17, died of a suspected overdose in a Manx Family Services home in Onchan in December last year.

Her funeral took place at St Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh City. A memorial service will be held at St Peter's in Onchan on 1 March.

Earlier this month, Miss Smith's family appealed for the Manx authorities to release her body for burial.

Investigations are still ongoing into Nadine's death and a date is yet to be set for the opening of the inquest.

Nadine, from Armagh City, was a former pupil at St Ninian's High School in the Isle of Man.

She had been living in the staffed unit in Onchan with two other youngsters.

An independent review of the circumstances surrounding her death is also under way.
