Council depot ready for business
Douglas Borough Council's new building in Ballacottier
The new building will replace the Lake Road depot
A new 3.5m council depot is due to be completed by the end of this week - two months early.

The operational centre at Ballacottier for Douglas Borough Council will house 120 staff and replaces the existing Lake Road depot.

It includes open-plan offices and a car park for workers.

Departments using the new facilities include waste management, drainage, electrical services, housing maintenance and fleet management.

It is hoped the move will also ease traffic flow around the Tesco supermarket near the old site.

Council leader Lynda Ramsay said the centre was a "brilliant project with good working conditions for staff".
