Douglas will represent the island in Britain in Bloom
Douglas has been named the winner of this year's Island in Bloom contest.

The town will represent the island at next year's Britain in Bloom event, where it will compete against the winners from 17 other British regions.

Other prize-winners include Peel, Castletown, Ramsey, Onchan, Port Erin, Marown, Colby, Bride and Dalby.

Tourism minister David Cretney said: "We have had a beautiful summer and this has been reflected in the high quality of entries."

The overall winner of the island's competition last year was Maughold.
