New UK freight link for Alderney

Alderney has a new freight link to the UK after renovations to the commercial quay opened up more options for bringing goods into the island.

As part of the upgrade to Alderney's harbour the quay was lengthened so that larger ships can moor alongside.

Channel Island shipping company Huelin-Renouf said the work meant it was now able to service the island.

Following recent sea trials a twice weekly service is due to begin on 23 February.

The MV Huelin Dispatch, at 86 metres long, is the largest vessel to have used Braye Harbour so far.
