It is hoped it will make the planning process more open
The public can track the progress of all planning applications in Guernsey after the launch of an online service.
The facility on the States website means individuals can search on a map and see the status of applications across the island.
All protected trees and buildings are also listed.
Jim Rowles, director of planning control services, said it would not speed up applications but it would make the process more open.
Andrew Male, from Lovell Ozanne architects, said it was a real step forward for anyone involved in developing property.
He said: "It's gives us much quicker access to information."
