Life-changing surgical procedures can be safely carried out in a hospital in Uganda thanks to Guernsey donations.

New surgical lights can be installed in the facility in Masaka after the gift of £20,000 of tax payers' money from the Overseas Aid Commission.

Guernsey's Rotary Club also raised £30,000 to build a new operating theatre at the hospital.

Tim Peet, a retired surgeon, led a visit of Rotarians to the site and said the money was very well received.
