Unit shut after ceiling collapse

A facility at the Castel Hospital has temporarily closed after heavy rain caused a ceiling to collapse.

Part of the ceiling in a corridor at The Meadows Day Centre has come down, revealing what may be asbestos.

The building, which provides activities for people with dementia, was closed with those attending sent home.

A specialist contractor will examine the ceiling before decisions about repair work and the re-opening of the day centre are taken.
